Biographies

Under the tab, Exemplary Individuals, you will find biographies my students wrote regarding a given individual considered to be exemplary. The students engaged in online research. Students filled in note boxes and organized their information on a graphic organizer. Students wrote biographies and I uploaded them to the blog. The students did really well, their biographies were insightful and detailed. The students were very interested in researching about these individuals as these were individuals that they did not know, or did not know very much about.

I hope you will enjoy them!

Jazz Appreciation

Over the past few weeks, my students and I listened to many various styles of jazz. The students listened to more jazz on their own and brainstormed many ideas about all the styles. Once they were done they chose one style they appreciated the most. The students had to write a paragraph with seven reasons describing their appreciation of the chosen jazz style. Lastly, the students took their paragraph and turned it into a comic life.

The students seemed to have enjoyed the project very much. They enjoyed being able to listen to various jazz styles and musicians while working. They also were constantly asking me to play jazz music while working on other projects.

I think jazz should be taught and explored within the schools. The students show an enthusiasm and love for the music. I was very pleased about their appreciation of jazz because they usual music they were listening degraded many people and was influencing their daily life choices. Now, that they heard jazz they weren't as tempted to listen to the other songs.

I am very proud of you grade 6. I am very pleased of your comic life project. Keep up the good work.
